part way through the evening I presented a slide show

I offered an explanation for my work and after a while the lecture turned into a discussion which is perfect. I am deeply encouraged by *all* of the feedback that I received. People were truly engaged and offered some brilliant insights and suggestions. They way my work was received and understood by different people varied quite a lot.

Plenty of comfy seating at Back Lane Studios – its a really beautiful space.

I have been renting the basement apartment from Abby and Rene since the summer of 2017 at their house located only a few minutes walk from Back Lane Studios. I am very lucky to have a chance to live where I do. To be in their company, in their proximity even, is an enormous gift. Furthermore, Roncesvalles is a beautiful part of Toronto for so many reasons not least of which, is a burgeoning art scene.

This is a painting of their back yard that I gave them in 2019 as a way to say thank you. It is a beautiful space. Abby is master gardener – the yard is a miniature representation of the Canadian Shield. There are representative plant species from most every area. Abby also initiated and oversees the Dundas Roncesvalles Peace Garden located nearby at the intersection of Dundas and Roncy. From the website:

“The DRPG features heritage recognition, green street gardening, community welcoming, pollinator habitat development, and visual arts. It acts as a living dedication of renewed relations between our community and Toronto’s Indigenous peoples.”
